Places First at Shaler, Wins Road Warrior Open Title
Feb. 2, 2005 - Cole Baxter placed first in the 12&U, 95-pound bracket at Shaler Area's Dr. Kurt Nellis Memorial Open on January 29th held at Shaler Intermediate High School. The victory helped earn the Butler wrestler the title of 2004-05 Road Warrior Open Champion!

The third time turned out to be the charm for Baxter. The 2003 Pennsylvania Junior Wrestling state champion had come up just short of earning the RW championship over the last two seasons, placing second during the competition's inaugural 2002-03 season, and finishing third last year.

Placing second this season was North Allegheny's Jason Monper, third place went to Pine-Richland's Brendan Burnham, and coming in fourth was Chartiers Valley's Aaron McKinney. The top four place-winners will receive trophies and the remaining Top 25 wrestlers will receive personalized medals at the February 12th league tournament.

The Road Warrior Novice competition, meanwhile, concludes this Saturday, February 5th, with the Mars Novice Tournament.

The 2004-05 Road Warrior competition wraps up with the final open and novice tournaments of the 2004-05 season.

Shaler offers an Open tournament on January 29th, while a Novice tournament will be held at Mars on February 5th.
